I went into this one expecting to be a little lost, but I had no idea it’d be this bad. This book was 40 pages of mental masturbation on Morrison’s part, pure drug induced verbal diarrhea.

This was just nonsensical writing disguised as “arty” or as a “literary drug trip”, but in my eyes it was just random big words jumbled together in no particular order. They say there is a fine line between genius & insanity, & if this isn’t deliberate nonsense, or written while on drugs & actually makes sense in Morrison’s mind, then the dude is mentally unstable.

The Tagline for next issue is – “The madness through the multiverse continues!”

And “madness” is an excellent word to describe this story, some of the pages in this were like something you would find written in shit on the wall of a mental patient’s padded cell.

The 3D hardly worked & gave me a headache also, what a waste of great Mahnke artwork to ruin with this money making gimmick.

Anyone on the fence about buying this — only read it if you are a massive Grant Morrison fan, a drug addict or a fan of stories that are overly weird just for the sake of being weird & you don’t care if the narration or story make any kind of sense.

I’d give less than 1/5 for story if possible, because after reading it, I could not tell you what it was about & I’d give Mahnke’s great art a higher rating if it wasn’t ruined by the 3D.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 3 - Good

  2. Yeah, the 3d combined with the craziness in this book was a headache-inducing cocktail indeed.  I actually went into the store hoping that there would be a non-3d version but…alas.  No matter what happened in the rest of the book though, I freaking loved that first page!  That’s a quintessential silver age style first page if I’ve ever seen one!

  3. Yeah man, that was a sweet lokin’ page, too bad I have no idea how it relates to the rest of the story (but, I could say that about 90% of the book).

I was also hoping for a non-3D version, I always buy those when there is a choice, mainly becuase I think 3D doesnt work well on me because I’m colour blind, so it’s a waste of money.

  4. Sock it to ’em Wade!

  5. The only thing about this issue I didn’t like was the 3d. All in all, I thought it was smart, and certainly classic Morrision compared with the different styles he’s been using in FC proper
