In this title, DC has done in one book, what Marvel couldn't do in the whole "Captain America: Fallen Son" series. This book not only showed the brutality suffered by MM in his last hours, but it also was able to get across the deep feeling of loss and sadness that his surviving friends feel for him.
The art is gorgeous. There are wonderful character moments in here among the survivors. And the fact that J'onn(sp?) was able to 'beam' the Martian history to his friends comes off as particularly poignant.
It is said here over and over again that "If a book is able to elicit an emotional response from the reader" then it is truly a good book. If you have read this book, you know what I mean. If you didn't get this book yet, get up, go to your local comic book store, get it, and read it. Now.
I haven't go thru my stack yet, but I am thinking that this is going to be very hard to beat for P.O.T.W.

Great review. I couldn’t have put it better. There were tears in my eyes by the last panel.
If you deny yourself this comic, you’re missing a powerful and fitting tribute to MM. If I actually wore hats, I’d take mine off to writer Peter Tomasi and artists Doug Mahnke and Christian Alamy. Everything about this book was beautiful. Best four bucks I spent all week.
Nice one!
So, did any comic come close?
@Mart
No not really.
This one was abolutely my POTW.
I’m with you, kiddo.
