And so, after months and months, the wait is over. Was it worth the wait? On a whole, sort of. However, this particular issue did not carry the weight that issues #3 & 4 had with the return of Connor and Bart. Like the first couple of issues, it felt somewhat jumbled and all over the place. I understand why it may have taken Perez so long to finish it - there are at least 7 million characters in it! It felt somewhat rushed, and - at the fear of dragging this out over another year - could have benefited from 1 more issue. And Superboy-Prime is such a big baby that you truly do hate the kid. It's fitting that when he finally gets back to his Earth (after a sort of "TIMECOP" kind of resolution to the Superboy Prime/Time Trapper plot - that's right, I referenced a JCVD movie) that his family and girlfriend know what he's been doing because they've been reading about it in DC comics. I wonder if Earth-Prime experienced the delays in this series that we did.
But the moment I was really looking forward to - and the a moment that was given exactly 1 PANEL (the build-up to that panel got a page, at least) - was the unveiling of Connor and Bart to the Titans. I mean, come on. You couldn't sacrifice a page here and there for one of the ump-teen Legions to give us some more emotional resonance than a panel of Connor and Cassie hugging? I mean, the first quarter of the 52 series saw Cassie Sandsmark so heartbroken by Connor's death that she joined a cult and duped Elongated Man as well. All we get is a full panel shot of them hugging like Connor just got back from a trip to Chicago, and there's hardly any emotional impact whatsoever. Maybe this is realized in another comic, but that's no excuse. We've waited patiently for this - I don't want to have to buy a TITANS issue or some other comic to get the payoff that should be here in this series.
Some things work, though. Perez's art is great as always, Brainiac's quip about getting a haircut is funny, and the last few pages of the issue, with Superbaby Prime talking to the readers, is both creepy and oddly humorous.
ALMOST a 3 out of 5 for story but for the 1-panel travesty. I'd mark it at 2 and 1/2 if I could.
Art: 4 - Very Good

The Wonder Girl/ Superboy relationship is going to be explored further in Johns’ upcoming Adventure Comics, if I’m not mistaken. This mini was basically a lead-in for that series.
I totally agree with you on the Wondergirl / Superboy thing. Far too many comics have come out highlighting Cassie’s utter emotional destruction as a result of Superboy’s death, and even moreso, the effect that the deaths of Connor and Bart had on Robin. "Ain’t it cool?" was blatantly insufficient.
