Like a lot of people, I started to read comics in issues (other than TPBs like before) with the New 52. And one thing I remember around that time was that many readers were ranting on about how bad Fraction is/was (I guess because of Fear Itself?). But at least when it comes to FF I can't see at all why that should be the case. This book is by far my favorite right now and definitely my pick of the week. Not only do I love his one-shot story approach but this book just makes me laugh out lout almost every page. The way he pertraits this new FF family is funny, feels modern and at least in this issue was really heart-warming (but most of all funny). Even though this issue was mostly one big fight, Fraction managed to perfectly depict the relations among the FF in contrast to the perverted "family" they have to fight agains. And the art by Laura and Michael Allred fits this kind of story perfectly. Not only do the character's impressions perfectly fit the humor, but the art has something that reminds me of underground comix. I often get the impression that modern superhero comics try to often to be "realistic" and "cinematic" but the art in FF really reminds me of what comics are about: not imitating movies, but telling stories through painted images. And on a personal note: for a comic reader like me, who deals with gender related issues often in his daily work it is unbelievable refreshing to read a book that at least occasionally picks up and critiques heteronormative and nuclear concepts of family. Wizard's thread: "All of you pale before our heteronormative cisgendered classification of family!", is probably the funniest and smartest super-villian-thread I ever read ;) 5/5
