There is nothing quite like a fantastic ending to a comic book storyline, especially one that has been going on for almost three years. It is also fun to watch a good writer evolve over their career. Hickman has changed from a good writer to a great writer. His early issues of the series that were bogged down by exposition, transitioned into a finely functioning Kirby-esque machine with each piece of his narrative puzzle moving into place at the correct time. Finally, a writer put the family back in the first family. Without realizing it until this issue, Hickman has been telling a three-generational father and son story linking Nathaniel, Reed and Franklin together to define what makes the F.F. who they are and according to this story, successful at saving the cosmos over and over again.

It was wonderful having Steve Epting back this issue. Although, Barry Kitson is equally good something about Epting just says classic Marvel to me. My only artistic complaint is Mike Choi’s generic cover…blah! Oh, well.

Story wise you could not get much better or exciting than this issue. Time travel, Galactus, world-building and family drama all rolled into one. As far as I am concerned, Jonathan Hickman and Steve Epting could be on this book…forever. Although they would make a bang up team on Avengers too.

Story: 5 - Excellent
