I started to pick up this book a few issues back because Johnathon Hickman and I live in the same town and I wanted to support a fellow South Carolinian . So few of us reflect well on this state after Sen. Joe Wilson and Gov. Mark Sanford , the only two good example that come to mind are Mr. Hickman and Stephen Colbert , but I digress .

Normally I stay away from Marvel Comics because I have seen what has been done to my childhood heroes and it make me ill , enough with the dark gritty and zombie stories . Again I digress , the Fantastic Four has always been unique because at the heart of the team is a family .Recently that has been forgotten , now with Mr. Hickman at the writing helm that fact is first and foremost . The guys in the team are a family and it makes for a great read . Now add in a touch of the cosmic and this run stand toe to toe with the Stan Lee / Jack Kirby run. Hickman has just decided that this comic is going to be fun and so far in the three issues I have read he has done it and I am now forced to admit that Marvel has three books that I must read , this one Guardians of the Galaxy and Moon Knight . Thanks Mr Hickman for making me have to buy more , my future wife is going to kill you for it .

The art on this issue was’nt particularly good however , I really missed the Dale Eaglesham artwork .  But I can live with it , it just takes a little getting used to . I am hoping Dale will be back next issue .

Overall this book is a hidden gem just waiting to be unearthed . Check it out and enjoy a break from the big event books , this one will be going long after you have forgotten about the Uncivil War , Dark Rain or the Attack of the Pink Hulk .

  1. I agree with you on everything except the art. While i feel Eaglesham is a better fit, I though Neil Edwards had a very Hitch esque quality to his work which I dug.
