In the wake of setting up something truly epic in this promise of Dr. Doom’s master we get a nice little two-shot adventure in FF. Now, there are a few things I really enjoyed about this issue. First of all, getting the four into the Scottish countryside provides a nice change of pace from the the previous issues. Secondly, I enjoy when the Richards kids are there and don’t have to be justified with any godlike super-powers. And the last part I liked how the menace of the issue snuck up on you. The utopian rural setting brings to mind stories like Wicker Man and Hot Fuzz, but this talk of “our God” lends itself to a Lovecraftian story.

This run is my favorite FF run of all time. I really recomend it as a series that isn’t a slave to continuity, but doesn’t feel like a bubble universe either.
