As you probably imagined this is an utterly skippable comic.  Five teasers for the Heroic Age books: Avengers Academy, Agents Of Atlas, Black Widow, Hawkeye & Mockingbird, and Thunderbolts.

The Gage/McKone Avengers Academy preview looks and reads like any Dark Reign book you read.  Better at the beginning of the journey from Dark Reign to Heroic Age than at the end of the collection, but it’s pretty boring to look at.  It does, however, set up an interesting premise for AA.  I’d give it story: 4, art: 3

I’m not a fan of Agents of Atlas.  Nothing against the title, it’s just never grabbed me.  Parker’s first few pages of dialog didn’t grab me any more than any other issue I’ve picked up.  But I did love both Gabriel Hardman & Giancarlo Carcuzzo’s  art.  story: a biased 3, art: 4

Finally, finally, finally, Jamie McKelvie does the art on a book that I might enjoy.  I loved the first issue and a half of Suburban Glamour (before it got all magicy faery) because of his artwork.  And it works really well with this particular Black Widow story.  It’s a far, far cry from the Acuna art from current issues, but I like it.  story: 4. art: 4

Hey, Hawkeye’s back.  What will hopefully be a “Hell Yea” in the ongoing title was sort of a “meh” here.  It was a run of the mill 8 page teaser.  story: 2, art: 2

Parker’s Thunderbolts story didn’t make me any more interested than I already was about Luke Cage running The Thunderbolts, but it didn’t dissuade me, either.  story: 2, art: 5

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 4 - Very Good

  1. Yea I flipped through this at my LCS and decided to pass. It didn’t look like there was any meat to it.

  2. @JesTr: It did get me to pick up Agents of Atlas, which I’m happy about, but otherwise…ehhh.
