I will admit that I was going to drop this. What with the DC reboot and other expenses, I need to cut back on my pull list. It’s not that the book isn’t good, quite to the contrary, Tony Lee is one of the best Doctor Who writers in any medium. His dialogue reads just the way it should and his plots are interesting enough that you want to see what happens next. The only sore spot on his otherwise exemplary run is that for some reason IDW is constantly paring him with artists that leave much to be desired.

Much to my surprise this arc the artist is Matthew Dow Smith. Of all the artists in IDW’s run with Doctor Who he’s really the break out. He’s style is very reminiscent of Mignola, and evokes the feel of the show and look of the actors without being too photo-realistic.

After this arc I may switch over to trades, but for now I’m loving this.
