The original DOCTOR WHO comics were something of a cult hit back in the 1970s and 1980s. The television show was the most popular science fiction show in the UK ever. And the novels were a hit, each one based upon an episode of the show. The creative team behind the comic was incredible, and would go on to do great things. Dave Gibbons, primarily, would go on to draw WATCHMEN.

The Iron Legion was one of the stronger storylines from the original comic, and with this colour repriniting, IDW have breathed new life into the long-thought-dead comic series. With the new series of comics based on the renewed TV show peering at us from the horizon, it’s a wonder that DOCTOR WHO CLASSICS isn’t selling more.

It features the best Doctor – Tom Baker, and some of the best writing, while it is nothing compared to the original show’s writing. With DOCTOR WHO now officially the longest running sci-fi show of all time (yes, it’s at least 10 episodes longer than the ENTIRE Star Trek run from the 60s to Enterprise) it’s safe to say the Time Lord is back. And season 4’s premiere over Easter, hopefully interest will be piqued towards the greatest sci-fi show on TV. In fact, the greatest sci-fi show of ALL TIME.

Story: 3 - Good
