Nice review, and very reflective of my own feelings about the resolution. It must have been so tempting to have Matty paroled in this five years later epilogue yet Wood, as always, sticks to his guns. I like to think that the concept of this civil war is just the right side of “could never happen” (and I really don’t think things could ever go that far), but everything that happens as a result of that fiction always felt real…including the evolution of Matty himself. I saw some negative reflection elsewhere on another site about this ending and I have to say that saddened me as I’d have to admit it was so apt that it gave me goosebumps!
Thanks, Odare77. Can I ask, what was that other site &/or other reaction?
