Francesco Biagini id my kind of indie artist.  With your average to subpar artist, if you see a character painting her toenails, you can bet that she’s got poison polish, or razor sharp nails, or that her feet or the color of the nails are about to become very important to the story.  Biagini, however, has someone painting their toenails, because sometimes people do that, and it has no purpose in the story other than “she was painting her toenails when he walked in” because people do sometimes paint their toenails.  It’s pretty refreshing.

So, while there’s nothing spectacular about his lines, the shading, the way he draws faces, the overall structure of his panels and his action make the story feel very realistic, and help define this as a story that could happen, provided you accidentally married someone magic (which, sadly, as of yet, has not happened to me or any of my friends).

The story, itself, is still very good.  You should head down to your LCS and see if they have any extra copies of #1 around, if you didn’t pick it up.  It’s one of the better Man Must Fix Mistakes He’s Made In His Past stories that I’ve ever read.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
