Okay this issue was the one where it went from
silly fun to punch you in the nuts awesome. Seriously, he fought death
for his life back. No, that's not accurate. He kicked death's ass,
three times and left with his life back. That was freaking awesome in
ways that awesome has yet to be defined. The art was excellent, but I
have yet to be disappointed by Corey Walker on any book. There's some
added dimension to the over the top violence when these two work
together. Right now Invincible is very good but it feels like all
surface. This book felt like violence with an undercurrent social
commentary. Of course I might just be reading into it. I loved how the
book ended with him retiring and the son in law becoming his
replacement. He looked like my grandpa, except more punchy.
