Though I probably didn’t do DEMON KNIGHTS #10 any favors by reading it immediately after BATMAN #10, I still just consider this, while not a great and timeless book, a heckuva lot of fun.

The cast is big, as ever, but it’s also well-handled: lacking, perhaps, in deep character work, mostly, but everyone’s got their own voice, and the way they interact is excellent. Just enough of those voices are funny – intentionally or otherwise – to provide laughs without (unintended) groans.

And really, bottom line? This book begins with Vandal Savage saying, “Look! It’s a pirate sea serpent! That is something I have NEVER shouted before!” And if that line doesn’t pretty much sum up the essence of DEMON KNIGHTS, I don’t know what does.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
