I think “Challengers of the Unknown” is DC’s Sunshine – you know, that sci-fi movie with the mission to the inner planets, the big ship with the heat shield, lots of hard sci-fi thriller stuff? Until the third act when a near-dead man with no skin murdered everyone with a knife? Yeah, that one.

“Challengers” is a decent pulp premise turned horror comic, because everyone is basically marked for death eventually. The script doesn’t sell it – the characters are still lame and hard to tell apart, the plot’s a bit peculiar, there’s a lot of deux ex machina at work…it just isn’t that good.

“Challengers” ends here for now, though there’s obviously more story to tell. I doubt I’ll care if they get around to telling it, though.
