DC UNIVERSE PRESENTS’s first outing does not continue so strong as it started. Those that felt #1 was overloaded with exposition will be pleased that there’s a lot less here, but really, it’s still unclear what Boston Brand’s really up to in this story in particular. His motives remain unclear, but it doesn’t feel like that’s on purpose. Which is a problem.

The art is so-so and the plot is fine, and moves, but I’d just really like it if I had a better understanding of what was at stake for Deadman, and what he really wants out of this situation.

  1. I thought it was more clear in this issue than in the first what his motives are. He wants to know why he’s forced to live these people’s lives and he wants to know why the goddess is lying to him about it.

That said, I still don’t quite understand what the terms of helping these people involve.

I think if the story is done right, it’ll give us an idea of Deadman’s “mission statement” as a hero, rather than just seeing a ghost do ghostly things.
