You’ve got to hand it to the Moon (or is it Ba?) brothers – they’re experts at drawing out the sort of elegiac sentiment that has permeated this book since the first issue. I’m glad I left this book for last, as it left me in a decidedly pensive mood and would most likely have soured the rest of the books if I read them after this. That’s a pretty strong testament to their storytelling abilities, providing us with everything we need to know and understand about Bras and his life within a given issue while simultaneously enriching the emotional undercurrent of loss and romanticism that seems to be driving the 10-issue series as a whole. I’ve enjoyed the brothers’ artwork from their work in Casanova to The Umbrella Academy and their work on the BPRD, but this series marks them out as great writers in their own right.
