As a huge fan of both the Dark Tower books, and this comic reimagining, I was very disappointed in this issue.  It wasn't terrible.  It was the first time I ever really noticed that Isanove is not Jae Lee.  The face shading was noticeably vague, which was my overall problem with this issue: it looks rushed and vague in every possible way.  After all the setup in the books, and the comics for an epic fall of Gilead, it mostly happens off camera. 

After showing the initial slaughtering of the slow mutants, we see the traitors of Gilead announce that they are going to kill all the women and children.  The next time we see them, they're bumbling fools mowed down by the young gunslingers.  And then Roland, while walking through a sanctuary of corpses,  realizes why Farson was after the fuel from Citgo.  It is inferred that traitors have burned all the citizens of Gilead alive, and that's who the corpses are.  And while I applaud David's effort not to spell everything out for the audience, and to let them figure things out on their own, I had to go back and reread the last few pages to make sense of it.  I'm also a little bothered that the only survivors from Gilead are the young gunslingers and Sheemie.  I don't even think King planned on wrapping it up quite that neatly.

I am mostly disappointed that the only issue in David's Gunslinger epic that I didn't love is the part of the story most crucial to the series.

I'll still be buying the hardcover collection.
