I liked the initial premise a lot, sending the horribly mutated Marrina to kill
Atlanteans. It is highly unclear why the X-men are involved, however. I mean, yes, I know that Namor has decided to explore his mutant roots for a while, but story-wise they really just seemed tucked into this episode. They certainly don't do anything interesting or say anything interesting. Giant sea monster attacking and you throw Wolverine at it? Not a clever plan.
There was a sense of pathos to the scene where Namor takes the monster down into the depths, sort of a crushing depths version of the end of Ole Yeller. I am not 100% convinced he offed her though. There are about a dozen ways to explain the giant sea serpent head that got tossed into the office (for example, Marrina shed it while returning to her humanoid form), so for those of you wanting to lynch Fraction for how callous he made Namor, you might want to wait and see how that all turns out. Also, maybe this will play out in the future, but shouldn't Atlantis and the United States be at war now? A clearer Pearl Harbor-style attack could not have been arranged. They seemed to always attack the surface world at the drop of a hat in the past, so an actual Act of War should have consequences.
My main problem with the story (besides the misleading X-men title) was that every person was just a characterture. No one had any personality. Norman was evil. Namor was haughty. The X-men were heroes. It really felt like like a rush job to capitalize on this silly List nonsense. The Alan Davis art was solid, but not exceptional. Maybe if he had been given more to work with... A very skippable tale.
