Yay, Kyle Holtz doing the
Hood is awesome.

I’m a firm believer in writers never returning to a character
they helped make, but an artist can come back after evolving for a few years as
much as he wants. Holtz made this character amazingly creepy and really gave it
a much better continuity to the first appearance.

There was a huge jump from
street hood Parker Robbins to superpowered Kingpin Hood and this series is
bridging it a lot better than Bendis was doing. I really like seeing him plan
out a crime and execute it with precision. The smash and grab tactics most of
the villains use is probably why they get caught so often. I love seeing him
acting like a responsible dad when a few pages previous, he was banging Madame
Masque.

I think Jeff Parker is doing a wonderful job making Robbins a complex
character.

  1. hey, nice review. But I was wondering about this:

"I’m a firm believer in writers never returning to a character they helped make"

Could you elaborate on why? (not being critical — just curious)

  2. because so far my experience has been that those that return love the character too much to make good stories.

    Examples, Claremont on X-Men/Excalibur

Waid on Flash, to a lesser extent Cap

Peter David’s going back to Hulk was okay, but kind of bland all things considered.
