If this story is any indication of how things are going to go with Hickman writing FANTASTIC FOUR, I say bring it on.  This was a well-plotted, beautifully-dialogued entry into the Fantasic Four canon, and I can't wait for the regular series to have this kind of character development and story.

The dispatching of Norman Osborn was simply terrific.  And for the first time since the days of POWER PACK, the offspring of Reed and Sue aren't cardboard cut-out kids.  In fact, how Franklin and Valeria's scenes and characters were handled were the best parts of the entire series.

But the most important aspect of this story has been Hickman's handling of Reed Richards.  This is, simply, one of the finest, full-rounded and satisfying versions of Reed that I've ever read.  His choice at the end - SPOILER ALERT: READ NO FURTHER IF THOU DOST NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED!! - to go against Sue's wishes and rebuild the bridge is going to have lasting and grimm (sorry-pun intended) consequences for the team, and even, I suspect, Reed and Sue's relationship.

As for the art, am I correct that Sean Chen was the artist on the Iron Man relaunch in the late 90s?  I remember his art being much more polished. However, he has a great flair for storytelling, and I'd be happy if he was the regular artist of FF, but I'm even happier that Dale Eaglesham will be regular penciller (even if his Reed Richards looks like Nick Fury w/out the eye patch in a FF costume).

For anyone who didn't pick this series up and is thinking of getting Hickman's run on FF, buy this in trade.  I have no doubt that the events in this mini are going to come back to haunt the FF at some point in the future.
