For a comic I swore I wouldn’t buy I sure am enjoying the hell out of this comic. As good as the first two issues have been I think this has been the most enjoyable of the bunch.

Opening with a flashback Normal Osborn talks to the Sentry about how similar the two of them are. Mike Deodato really shows his talent in intimate moments like this where the characters act and emote amazingly. I found myself able to feel a tangible pain in Bob Reynolds I had never in New Avengers. The scene is overcast with shadow, a feeling of foreboding. The blend of pencils, inks and colors create perfect tone and mood. This opening scene alone makes the comic worth it.

The rest of this issue flies by. The action is incredibly fast-paced and when the panels open up into wide shots it makes everything feel very epic, just like an Avengers comic should be. This issue doesn’t lose any momentum, if anything I think this issue shows that this concept does have legs and will continue to be one of my favorite Bendis titles.

  1. I agree with you on the opening, it really made me feel for the Sentry.
