Y’know for such a perfect marriage of concept and character, this book
is surprisingly bad. I gave the first issue a lot of slack because I
really do think this had a boat load of potential. Of course the
execution is so trite. I understand that crippled people in the 20’s
were mistreated, but the role Matt is playing out of costume is so
insultingly bad. The fight scenes seem like they’re taken from some of
the better arcs with the character, but done in a way to make them pale
imitations. I really don’t care for the fact that the rain starts at
convienent plot moments. It is being used about the same way that
thunder cracks are used after people say “IT’S MURDER” in bad detective
stories.
