When I first heard of the new Daredevil series, I was most excited to see Marcos Martin work on the book and was sad to see him pushed back to issue 4. Of course, Paolo Rivera showed he could make a beautiful book as well and I forgot Martin would be coming in just a few issues.

The story continues from the end of the last arc, and Matt Murdock in lawyer-mode has decided to help clients represent themselves in court. Most of the book is just furthering this idea and showing a semi-introduction to Matt’s powers in a few fun action scenes. Waid knows what he’s doing and writes a funny and badass Daredevil.

Martin’s art continues to blow me away; the first two pages are a 30-panel series that does a beautiful way of showing off Daredevil’s abilities as well as giving slight indications as to what the character really is, by showing how sound guides him through his fight. Small scenes like this are litered throughout the book and always make me smile, such as Matt running down an alley to a bright opening of New Yorkers screaming for help. It’s fun, it’s beautiful, it’s a great book.

If you missed the first arc this is still a fine place to pick up (and really I don’t know anyone not reading this currently). You owe it to yourself to read Daredevil
