There are so many strong elements present in this book, the creators clearly know how to execute the style and feeling of an espionage thriller and yet the story just doesn't seem to get it right in this issue.
The first issue showed promise in its characters and its premise but the follow up here hasn't quite lived up. The strongest pieces of the book seem to promise a grounded story and then through the second half of the issue we get a sudden arrest without consequence, an immediate release, a support character whose role changes from paranoid adviser to company man almost instantly and the bad guy kidnapping the girlfriend. It just feels a bit contrived and forced; that first issue lead me to believe this series can do better.
Also, secret government cloning, after the last 20 years of sci-fi stories (in comics and out), is a bit deflating as a story device. To fair however this is just two issues in and we haven't seen nearly enough of the story to rush to a final judgement on how well this element can play out.
I haven't seen much of Nic Klein's work before this book but this kind of genre seems to be very well suited to his skills. I hope the series takes the time to make use of his moody, tense pencil work.

My apologies for some of the rough edges on this review, I wasn’t quite done revising but hit publish to see how the formatting looked. Now I can’t seem to go back and edit.
I mostly agree with everything you say, but I do want to give this one time to breathe. It feels like a great movie on paper, and I really dig the atmosphere/tone.
