Ladies and gentleman, say hello to the best damn comic on the stands today. Tracy Lawless? Still a badass. Still one of the most fucked up characters I’ve ever seen. And certainly extremely interesting. Very new reader friendly and in a nice touch, the book doesn’t spoil the previous Criminal storyline with him. This is going to be one twisted story arc.

The thing is Brubaker seems to lay out the plot on the table on the very first issue. We find out who’s been killing the untouchables and we know that when Tracy finds out that who’s doing the killing he’s going to have to make a choice that may haunt him forever. Meanwhile, he’s involved in a affair that’s nothing but bad, and his past is coming to bite him in the ass (even more than usual). But we all know Brubaker isn’t going to play it straight. We’re not going to see a happy ending here. Maybe one just less miserable than the other. But it’ll sure be interesting as the plot twists and turns.

The artwork is still fantastic though it’s a lot less clean than Incognito and a little more expressionistic. Nothing fancy and yet Sean Phillips still shows that he’s one of the best in the business if not one of the best ever.

Just look at the art he does for the backmatter if you don’t believe me. And yes the backmatter is fantastic. Now I have to go find an obscure Austrailian show that’s supposed to be fucking great.

Story: 5 - Excellent
