Last of the Innocent #2 is a slice of life wrapped in murder. It's one of the few crime stories I've read where the characterization feels true to life, like I could call up many of the characters to chat right now. Many people, myself included, have fallen victim to indecisiveness especially when it comes to relationships. For Riley, that lack of vision (or desperation for wealth) had lead him to a dark place where  he's decided it's his cheating wife, Felix's time to kick the bucket. Divorce won't do because thanks to a forced prenup his wife would end up owning just about everything of his, namely his pride. Now Riley, like most anyone, isn't running from his problems without something else to run towards. In his case, it's another woman, Lizzie, the third piece of what was a love triangle from highschool between Riley, Felix, and her. It's a simple story about questioning one's own decisions, yearning for the days of youth, and wishing life were just less complicated. except to fix his problems our narrator turns to something much darker, selfish, and more than a little sociopathic than most people are capable of. The art is the best of the series, transitioning from a simple Archie style, but filled with poolside sex and attempted pillow smotherings, to convey Riley's high school days, and the regular noir-esque, heavy shadowed artwork to represent Riley's bleak present. We've all experienced what Riley's going through but he's handling it on a whole different, nastier level making me wonder what else is in Riley's closet, and how I'll make it a month without knowing.
