I am 22, but this is the sort of book that makes you want to have a kid, it is wonderful and I want to be able to read it out loud to a little 5 year old and do some fun old west voices.

I bought both this and Return of The Dapper Men based on Archaia’s FCBD book, frankly they have done very well from me because of that little free Hardcover.

Now I don’t know if this is better than Return of The Dapper Men, they both fill that role of something that can be loved by Adults & Children alike and if you have kids get these, just stop what your doing, put your kid on your shoulders, walk to your comic book store, buy them, go get some food and read Cow Boy, save Dapper Men for bedtime.

But other than that they’re completely different, Cow Boy is the sort of thing that if newspapers had any taste they would print inside them instead of the awful stuff the ‘funnies’ normally contains.

And it’s a western, and like any great Western words are used sparingly but to great effect and that the protagonist is a ten year old boy gives it a new twist that allows for the family friendliness and leads to some pretty touching moments.

My only consternation would be the price, $20 is a lot, google tells me thats about £13 and that’s a meal out, or a cinema visit for two, or a couple of novels, or 4 or 5 comics, which is far too few comics but perhaps more than you’d get if this book had been published monthly.

However you’d only experience that movie once, or that food for a fleeting half hour, and if you’re anything like me you probably won’t re-read those novels for several years, but this, you’ll probably flick through this time and time again, and hopefully one day i’ll have kids and they’ll give me the excuse to do it without looking like a grown man reading a children’s book…
