I’ve always liked Cloak & Dagger. Their origin is based on love and drug addiction – an odd and unusual combination. This issue captured the subtle sense of desperation that always clings to these two. They’re not really heroes because they want to be, they’re heroes because they have to be. Because the alternative is worse.

This one-shot shows that a powerful, dramatic tale can be told with these two characters. I think an ongoing series would get tedious after a while, but its a perfect setup for a once-and-done emotional gut punch that finishes with a poignant ending.

It’s an odd choice for my Pick of the Week, but it’s good stuff and I hope you give it a try.

Best,
Col Mickey

  1. I found this effort to be pretty bland when all was said and done.  I wanted to give "C AND D" a chance because they do have such a history in the Marvel U, but for the most part, Moore’s writing felt cliched, offering almost nothing that I hadn’t seen before.  The end result feels like cheesy romance.
