[NOTE OF THE OWLS: This issue doesn't tie-in significantly with any of the other "Night of the Owls" issues so far, but it does technically happen after everything else in the event.] I've been meaning to catch up with CATWOMAN for a bit - I've read the first few issues and enjoyed them. I just haven't kept up with it. This issue does give me lots of reasons to get around to it, and I'll admit I'm pleasantly surprised. Catwoman is pulling a job with Spark - I don't know this guy, but that doesn't matter much. The opening dialogue establishes what their relationship is enough for this story to work. But the owner of their target - one Oswald Cobblepot - happens to be on the Court's hit-list. You can see where this is going. A lot of the "Night of the Owls" tie-ins have switched between their current story and telling the story of the Talon in the issue, and this one is no exception - but it's one of the more interesting, I think. One of the things that's made this event work for me is the fact that the Talons aren't mindless or anonymous, at least not in the telling - each has been an individual. This issue also stands out from other recent "Night" tie-ins in that Catwoman's involvement is not a response to Alfred's distress call, and she doesn't know what a Talon is. Selina's no slouch in a fight, but she's not a Talon - or a Bat. And besides, it looks good, and not in a fan service kind of way. What's not to like?
