This is my favourite book right now and these are reprints, which is saying something but I’m not sure what. I liked the first arc, but I’m loving this arc, and while both have a similar science to them, there is something here happening that makes everything better and just click. The young but vast universe of characters and how it shifts between these little vignette missions to the main plot  all feels natural and smooth and they convey a level of depth and craft that puts other comics to shame. Not a page or panel is wasted and the book always builds towards something and sketches a vivid world with a million possibilities and stories outside of the eponymous character, while also focusing on when that character is.

It also is really really hot sexy stuff.

Gabriel Ba’s artwork in the first arc felt more minimizing and blocky and distanced in points. Fabio is more dynamic and zooms in on scenes and figures and his character designs are cartoony but also imprint a sense of humanity to them.  And his women are some of the best in comics (don’t look at me like that! STOP IT!).

On that creepy note, it is a very adult comic. A real adult comic. It does not add in grit or violence or sex for the sake of childish shock or to simply market itself as this adult thing for adult readers, but rather presents violence and sexuality in a way that feels very human and real, in both uplifting hot ways and complicated and sometimes depressing ways.

But don’t take my word for it!

BA DA BA!
