An ultra violent and uber-sexy dieselpunk samurai epic action tale of… Well, I’m not sure precisely what it’s about. This issue is jam-packed with character and plot setup. So much so that I was left scratching my head as to what exactly I had read. There’s no way of picking up every nuance and detail without re-reading and even at that some questions remain unanswered. But that’s just to keep you interested. Despite this apparent lack of narrative clarity upon first read I still enjoyed this book a great deal. The artwork, overall tone and idea of the book were so striking that I’m wanting to check out a few more issues of Carbon Grey. Fans of manga-inspired digital artwork, intense action, cinematic epics and political intrigue should seek out this book.

I can see myself writing in-depth reviews of this in the future as it promises to be a very dense story world.
