I picked up the last issue of Captain Marvel because I wanted to learn if I liked kelly Sue Deconnick’s writing, and I do, however this isn’t what I excpected from this book. I was expecting a little bit of sci-fi and a ton of fighting. That’s exactly what’s in this issue, but only in about the last half of the issue. I’ll give credit to Deconnick, because Carol does say, “Time travel is not a Carol Danvers problem. You can’t balst it, punch it, outrun it or throw it into space.” This does sound like a great Doctor Who issue but there’s a lot of talking for nothing to really be explained. Dextor Soy’s art is different and uniqe. Though I’m bothored that Carol randomly loses her pupils in some panels. I also thought some of the women looked the same with different hairstyles. When I first start reading a book I give it an arc to convince me that it’s worth sticking around. So far I’m undecided if I keep reading Captain Marvel, but it is just issue #2.
