Anybody who was on the fence about this book should pick up this issue and put their fears to rest.
First of all anybody who likes the idea of Secret Invasion but is tired of the main series being stuck on the island should get this book. I am enjoying this series ten times more than the SI main book and all of it's other tie-ins so far combined. It's not that I'm a Bendis hater, but Cornell is blowing him out of the water with this series. He's taken Bendis's concept and turned it to 11.
The line about Captain America's death being reported and Captain Britain's death being felt will probably stick with me for awhile. You could tell it really affected the other characters as well. Black Knight chose to take out his anger on the skrulls in a rage. Pete Wisdom had to put it aside in order to fight for the greater good. Spitfire was almost debilitated by it. This new character of the Muslim doctor lady is very interesting as well. They may be setting her up as a skrull sleeper agent but I really hope not as I am enjoying her interaction with Black Knight.
The art here was just spectacular as well. While some scenes, like the Black Knights innards, did look better than others, this was still an outstanding looking book overall.
I actually can't think of anything bad about this book so far. I really hope they touch on the death of magic in the main SI books. If not Bendis is missing a golden opportunity, but that;s just my opinion.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good

I bought the first onw on a whim, cuz was a low week and thoroughly enjoyed it. This one is icing on the cake. For some reason, I’m liking the fantasy or magic aspect and tone of it, maybe cause it meshes well with the super hero aspect. The fact that is all within the parameters of Secret Invasion, makes it even more of a feat to pull off and the writer sure is doing that. I’ll probably keep buying this after SI, if it continues. Yay Brits! And magic! And Lennon Skrull!
This is great. the book is really ingraning itself into the Aurtherian legend is awsome. it probly doesnt hurt that i am currently reading aurtherian legend for some light reading at the same time. it is fun to see the actual legend ingrained with the comic.
I absolutely one-hundred percent agree! I picked up the first issue because, well, Captain Britain by the team on Wisdom??? How could that go wrong? First issue was typical setup, but this issue leaps off the pages. The feelings I had with this book is what I should be feeling reading Bendis’ main SI book. I’ve been a long time fan of the Brtish writers, but never really thought about that connection before now. Cornell is really working the dichotomy between US and UK and I loved it. The scenes with the Skrulls just taking down all the magical legends, Lady of the Lake, Green Knight, and getting all the magical items was great! I cannot wait for the next issue. There’s so many things to like about this issue! I can’t reccomend it enough.
Oh yeah. Agreed. Bendis is missing out if this Magic thing is not at least mentioned in the other book.
