I decided to pick up last month’s issue along with this one after hearing it was Josh’s pick a month ago. I had zero knowledge of who these characters were or what was going on going into these two issues. I thought it was a really solid issue, and I’m looking forward to next month already.

I have zero knowledge of any of these characters. I know nothing of previous stories. I just dove right in, and I feel very rewarded. Cornell does a great job writing these characters. Each one feels distinct, and I have a strong sense of their personalities based on very little information. I still don’t know the background of any characters, but I feel as though I know them as people.

I also love the vibe of this book. The concept of vampires is handled really well, and it never feels over-the-top in a bad way. I love the secret agent aspects to it. All in all, it’s a really solid team book, and I’d recommend it to anyone.

  1. I’m in almost the exact same situation you are with this book, and I was rewarded with the exact same results. This is was my first issue, I knew next to nothing about any character in it, but I really liked the issue a lot. I’m probably going to buy all the back issues, at least until the start of the vampire stuff. I couldn’t agree more with what you said about sensing distinct personalities from the unfamiliar characters based on the moments we see of them in this issue. It’s nice to find a new series to jump on and be excited about.

  2. Thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only person who feels this way about this book. I actually snatched the last copy at my flcs, so it must be decently popular. It’s nice to find a good book like this that isn’t really bogged down by the universe. Really, it’s just a fun book, and I can’t wait to keep reading.
