So, from the previews, we know Captain Atom went around saving the lives of many, from providing strength to a mother to save her child, to stopping a painter to falling to his death.
What happened was that he didnt sleep or rest after curing cancer for the boy. He went around the world, doing miracles and when he reached Libya (As you know Libya just ended the war last year after Gaddafi was caught, thank god) he was there with Flash, trying to stop collateral damage. Flash was busy deflecting the bullets from the soldier while Captain Atom transmuted the tank to just air. While Flash was concerned with the amount of radioactivity Captain Atom was releasing saying the league was concerned, but Captain Atom claimed hes not releasing any. Back at the Lab, the assistant was busy trying to scramble information about Captain Atom since he hasnt been back for a week. While she noted a high radioactivity frequency that was somehow changing the way earth is emitting them, perhaps due to Captain Atom's use of his powers.
In Libya, Captain Atom was busy trying to save lives with flash, while saying that he somehow feels isolated, everything was happening very fast as you can notice the panels were given a time to show just how slow time was moving while captain atom and flash was scrambling to do their job. Just Captain Atom saw a suicide bomber and tried to stop him, by absorbing the radiation, but somehow, it was too much for him so he manage to somehow reverse time while he was in there. Causing minimal damage to the surrounding. He then flew over back to the lab while the government officials were there camping waiting to surprise Captain Atom, probably with an interrogation.
I gotta say I love how the writer played up the emotions from Captain Atom, something I think many people living in the corporate lives can related to, feeling perhaps even alienated to themselves. I love the tone of the book. This issue also dealt with alot of philosophical and moral questions. If someone had powers like Captain Atom, is it really his place to be interfering with god's plan.
All in all, a fascinating issue.
