Oh wow, does Brian Clevinger write great comic books or what?  I’ll admit I’m a bit biased.  You see, Clevinger also happens to be the writer and co-creator of one of my favorite comics, which is Atomic Robo.  What’s that you say?  You don’t read it?  Then, you’re crazy.  What Clevinger does so nicely with this issue is that he captures the feel of the Atomic Robo comics while firmly rooting it in the Marvel U.  This issue is a perfect all ages one-shot.  Parents, if you want to buy your kids Captain America comics for the upcoming movie, buy them this book.  Seriously.  It’s not overly violent, it’s funny and silly while also being a great story with Captain America on his very first mission.  Clevinger does a nice job of keeping things light while still delivering some solid WWII action.  There’s a whimsy to the book that makes you smile.  It’s just fun comics. The artist on the book, Gurihiru, brings an animated, dare I say, almost Manga style to the book.  This captures the feel of the story perfectly as it’s not overly serious and little bit goofy.  I thought his pencils complimented the tone perfectly, and he did a nice job of making everyone look a different through different costuming or figure drawing.  All in all, this was just a fun comic book sure to delight fans of any age.

  1. I agree.

And remember: SHIELDS ARE NOT FOR THROWING!

I have never read Atomic Robo but might give it a while after this.

The art was super fun too.

I am not sad I bought this, though I wish it was ongoing like originally planned, I don’t really know what is going on in regular cap but it sounds like Trial of The Flash.

  2. @ResurrectionFlan  Check out Atomic Robo is you get the chance.  It’s a ton of fun.  I had no idea this was supposed to be an ongoing at one point, but it would be a great title to have on the stands for fans of the movie and kids.  The regular Cap is going to completely “restart” in June when the movie hits.  There will be a new number 1 and a the regular Cap series is going to shift focus back to WWII.

  3. really enjoyed this. my POTW
