This installment of “Captain America Reborn” serves to advance the plot quite a bit and in an interesting way.  Reed Richards and Hank Pym are working on the science of saving Steve Rogers, while Doom and Armin Zola work on the science of destroying him.  Hawkeye, Bucky Cap and Black Widow are doing the practical work of tracking down Sharon Carter.  Unless I missed something in another comic, there is no explanation for the Red Skull having escaped his robot body.  The characterization of Doom is particularly fun in this issue as he lords his intelligence over the other villains, even calling Zola a “fool” at one point.  If this comic were a movie, the character of Doom would be great fun for some actor to play.  Bryan Hitch does some impressive work in this issue.  I always like to see how comic book artists design architecture, and in this issue, Doctor Doom’s castle or lab looks neoclassical; like a twisted version of St. Peter’s Basilica, in fact, complete with statues of Doom.  The Red Skull and co. land in a square that is a dark version of St. Peter’s Square.  Hitch is portraying Latveria as the Vatican of evil.  This is in marked contrast to Mike Deodato’s work in a recent “Dark Avengers” story arc.  In the storyline featuring Morgana Le Fay, Deodato drew Doom’s castle in the Gothic style.  All of this is going to confuse the people at Disney.  When they finally add a “Mondo Marvel” theme park to Disney World, will Doom’s castle be neoclassical or gothic?  ; )
