This book gets better and better. After the big reveal at the end of the first one(although I totally should have seen it coming), the added twists thrown in here are less surprising, but are setting up an awesome WW2 superpowered battle. Remember those cool little flashbacks that Brubaker did toward the start of his Cap run, when Cap would recall storming a bunker, Bucky would call in the calvary, and it would be the Human Torch and Toro, flaming Nazis from above? This issue is setting up something very similar. Think the Evil Defenders(did the Nazi supers have a team name?) vs. Cap & Black Panther, with Nick Fury & the Howlers being relegated to cleanup duty.

The big battle in this one is exciting, really showing Cap getting his hands dirty WW2 style, and the bits with the Howlers itching to fight but being locked up were just hilarious. I also liked the interplay between the Nazi commanders, the slight testing of one another to see who was screwing who.

The art has a very rough, sketchy style that I think actually fits the book really well, recalling some Joe Kubert or even Will Eisner’s Vietnam tales.

The only complaint I have is the cover. Seriously, WTF is going on with Cap?

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
