I was kind of down on most of my books this week.  I don’t know if I was just in a funk, but I was worried that I’d lost the ability to enjoy comics.  Then I read Captain America #39.  While it was mainly just a bridge issue, moving us one step closer to the confrontation between the two Captain Americas, it had enough in it to be a good read that felt like things were happening.

Character wise it’s nice to see Sharon Carter start to reassert herself, rather than just acting as a prop.  There was some nice Falcon / Cap (Bucky) moments and it’s clear that this title is Brubaker’s best for Marvel.

I don’t really have much more to say.  It’s a great book.  If you’re not already reading it get the trades.  If you are, you already know what I’m talking about.

  1. Good to hear you knuckled under and found the good despite your funk!

  2. I kind of had the same experience with my comics.  I really didn’t like very much.  I really didn’t like either of the Avengers issues I read and everything flet blah to me.  This was also my favorite issue of the week.  Nice review!
