This felt like an episode from the television program. No Mecha-Dawn, anime vampires, super-spy strikeforces, Tibetan gargantuans or over-the-rainbow Angel sky quickies a la Season 8. Just nice, gritty Buffy. I like my Buffy gritty.

I owe Mr.Jeanty an apology for all the slightly negative words given his artwork. While I can think of a few artists I’d rather see drawing this (Amy Reeder…), the panels clicked for me this month- maybe I was feeling some sort of divergence between the visuals and the story? Have to think about that. For now, though, I’ve lost all trepidation about this book, and can’t wait to see where it goes.
