This is the first issue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer I've loved in a long time. For recent months it's been incredibly hit-and-miss, but this issue struck a chord with me, mainly because of events in my life at the moment which are reflected within.

The story focuses on the blossoming relationship of Xander and Dawn, which has been teased for months now, and finally seems to be really happening. The scene in which Buffy talks to Xander about it reminded me of a recent moment in my own life where two friends had much the same discussion.

But the main reason for this being my pick of the week is a quiet character moment that nearly had me reduced to tears. It is a scene of Buffy talking to a dying enemy soldier; and all the soldier can think about is the girl he failed to convey his feelings to. He dies asking himself why he was so afraid of telling her how he felt.

This plucked at my heart strings, primarily because I've been far to afraid to tell a girl that I like her. And I know I shouldn't be. I should just tell her. And this issue made me realise that not only should I tell her, but I WILL tell her. And I will tell her today.

And that is why this is my pick of the week. Because it convinced me to tell her.
