Prior to Bruce Wayne's return, iFanboy and other podcasts were telling me that the two Bat-characters who worked best on the page were Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown, so it's not surprising that the two best Road Home one-shots are Batgirl and Red Robin. However, Red Robin is a step or two down from the terrific Batgirl book, with the same problem that plagued Batman & Robin and The Outsiders: too much story. Fabian Nicieza delivers good dialogue, but I simply don't care about this over-complicated assassination story. I'd rather Bruce just watch and comment on Tim beating the crap out of some random thugs, with the Vicki Vale investigation as the only B-plot. I guess I was supposed to get excited about the introduction of Ra's al-Ghul at the end, but instead I just wondered how much more complicated this was going to get before Bruce was back in the Bat-suit. The art by Ramon Bachs and John Lucas is sometimes excellent, but most of the time it just does the job. Tim basically looks like Batman in a different costume, but that's a fairly small nit to pick. On the whole I think these panels are perfectly acceptable, which is the same label I would put on the book as a whole.
