Holy Shite. Didn't read any advance press on this issue, so I was completly blown away by the ending. Granted it's an ending I have seen coming for a long time now, just didn't realize this is where DC would reinsert.

Before the bombshell, this issue was slightly underwhelming yet a hell of a lot of fun. Contradictory I'm sure, but perhaps I just wish they didn't take 24 issues to get here. This maxi-series had tons of twists and turns it did not need to take. Learning about Alec Holland and Swamp Thing was neat, but the use of several characters last issue as the Elementals ultimately became pointless. Some of the explanations as to why certain characters were resurrected seemed hamfisted, even going to far as to leave one character out, possibly because the writers couldn't figure out what to do with him.

The art was what made this book a hard read however. The first action shot between the two Swamp Things is just atrocious, and from there it's so wildly inconsistent it almost became hard to read.

All in all, this issue was a microcosm for how I felt about the whole series. Parts were great, others not so much. But in the end, bravo to all involved.
