Warning: this is an 'art' comic. It is written and drawn by a painter, so if you're looking for action and clean lines, look elsewhere. This is a multi-layered, cerebral book about the fears that haunt us all and how nice it would be to see into the minds of others, to better understand their fears and needs. This happens to the protagontist, Nestor Gudfred, a young child in some unnamed, poor midwestern town. He loses his hearing in an accident and at times of stress can create silence around him, which deafens those around him, but at the same time allows them to enter the minds of those closed to them. The events are not what you would expect. This is the first of 2 planned volumes, but given the painterly style of the art (think Dave McKean or Bill Sinkiewicz), don't expect vol. 2 anytime soon. Still, if this sounds like your thing, please pick this up as it is a very small-press release and likely not to be in print very long.
