Booster Gold may be the most overlooked hero and book related to the events of Flashpoint. He and the Flash are the only two that realize the timeline is out of whack so you would think he’s a pretty important character. Yet his entire involvement in Flashpoint seems confined to this one book. This issue continues Booster’s battle against Doomsday and for my money it remains a really fun series.

Dan Jurgens has put together a nice tight knit Flashpoint tie-in story. Doomsday was turned into a weapon under the mind control of General Nate Adam. Convinced that Booster is an Atlantean threat, Adam turns a blind eye to all common sense and reason and is determined to kill Booster with his lethal toy. The writing is really good here although it’s hard to comprehend someone being as dumb as Lane. Still Jurgens gives us some cool references to past events (which he helped write) as well as new revelations for Booster about how different things really are in the Flashpoint world. It’s just a fun read.

Jurgens and Ig Guara split the art duties and the two compliment each other well. While noticable, there’s no drastic shift from one artist to the next. I do prefer Jurgens’ work in this issue and have always been a fan of his art but Guara holds his own and helps move the story along nicely. Add the really cool cover and you’ve got a nice looking book.

Many people are passing over Booster Gold in these final days leading into the DC relaunch. That’s a shame. This has been a fun storyline that’s relevant to the greater Flashpoint event and featuring some cool Doomsday action. I’m really going to be sad to see this one go.
