The last issue took me by surprise by just how amazing it was.  Simone appeared to make some risky decisions, and wrote a hell of a kick to the face story.  This issue was merely a solid comic.  Nothing flashy.  Nothing I will remember next week, and, as she hinted she would via Twitter and on a few reviewers blogs, she undid a lot of what made the last issue so good.

Please don’t misunderstand, this isn’t a bad issue.  It’s pretty good, but it took what the stakes from the last issue and lowered them , by including a bunch of misdirects.  It flashed an oasis of champagne, but it’s really just a puddle of Sprite, which is still refreshing, but not what I was hoping for.

Melo’s art, on the other hand, continues to be fanfuckentastic.
