Jae Lee’s art is some of the best I have seen, ever. The softness of the edges of the images makes the book feel like a flashback, or a dream. I literally found myself going back after I had read a page and just staring at the individual panels. It took me 45 minutes to read this book, simply because I couldn’t turn the page until I got that one last look at the amazing art.
The story was also right up my alley. It felt very much like the plot of the Batman Begins film. Ozymandias loses his parents and leaves a fortune to travel the world to increase his personal knowledge and follow the path of Alexander the great. However, the best parts of this book are the story of how he dealt with a schoolyard bully. I was not so sure about these Before Watchmen titles, but in my opinion they have steadily improved with every release being a step above the one before, cant wait to see where we are going. Pick this one up, its worth it for the art alone.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. I completely agree about the artwork. It was so rich, with wonderful “wispy” depth. Each Before Watchmen book is better than the last!
