I find with every issue that BATWOMAN is just a tad hard to follow. This is definitely a book that requires a re-read of the previous issue before jumping into the current one, especially if you last read #2 at its release. That’s not, in itself, a bad thing…just, it can be jarring.

This issue is more focused on the Weeping Woman again, that and Agent Chase. The things here seem better meshed with the story than last issue, and as always we get some good character stuff. We also get some…well, highly questionable character stuff, I think. Kate makes a decision in here that I just don’t understand in the context of her character. I really don’t.

Yet BATWOMAN is so beautiful, and the scripting so good, that I just can’t not love this book. I can’t. It’s physically impossible.

I think (or hope) that some of the plotting is just going through some growing pains. There’s just a little too much happening, and not in the “too much text” sense; more in the “some of this feels rushed” sense. And that can be forgiven. At least that sense leaves me with a sincere wish that I’d had that extra time to spend with these characters.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
