Hey DC! Why don’t you just rename this title, “Batman and Batwing”?

Sure, I get it – it’s like when Happy Days started to go down in ratings so they brought in Mork from Ork to guest star – Batman is here to sale comics, but it’s getting old now and feel bad for poor Batwing, dude can’t walk down the street without Batman popping out from behind the bushes. It was cool for one or two issues but into issue five now and Batwing should be flying solo.

At any rate, the yarn that Winick is spinning is an enjoyable one and the mystery behind the African super hero team The Kingdom is shaping up nicely and headed into Watchmen territory – and I’m diggin’ that last page with the villian Massacre staning in front of the sphinx. Impressive stuff from Ben Oliver.

This one continues to be the dark horse for me of the New 52.

  1. well said, ghostmann. You gotta figure these decisions were made by editorial and Winick before the book even launched, but the idea that the African needs his white colonial grandfather to succeed is incredibly offensive the more you think about it…I guess its not as bad as that, it’s just pandering. But still…yuk. I saw future solicit where ‘Wing is in Gotham, now reduced to Damien level I assume. Ouch.
